Gordina: Sustainable Embroidery & Wearable Art in Nuenen
Every great journey starts with a single stitch. Gordina was founded in 2024 by Nur K. with a simple mission: to bring more artistic sustainability to the world of
the textile industry.
Our Story: From Nuenen to the World
Our story begins in a small cottage in Nuenen, Netherlands, in 1885. Gordina de Groot was a woman of quiet dignity and honest labor; she was the central figure in Vincent van Gogh’s masterpiece, "The Potato Eaters". Today, we continue her legacy from the very same village where she lived and worked. What started in a small home studio has grown into a dedicated brand known for hand-sketched, heavyweight organic cotton apparel.
The Gordina Concept:Slow Fashion on Demand
We don’t believe in
"one size fits all" or mass production. In an era of fast-paced
consumption, we choose a different path.
- Quality First: We focus on evergreen basics made from
premium GOTS-certified organic cotton. - Personalized For You: Our concept is simple—you choose the
style, and we embroider it specifically for you. - Zero Waste: By operating on an on-demand
basis, we prevent overproduction and ensure every piece we create already
has a home.

Why We Are Different
- Sustainable Thinking: We partner with Fair Wear and GOTS
suppliers who care for people and the planet. - Expert Craftsmanship: Whether it’s the fine lines of a
hand-drawn sketch or the final thread, our team handles the design details
in-house at our Nuenen studio. - Made-to-Order Integrity: We prioritize intention over inventory. By
crafting each piece only after it is ordered, we ensure that every garment
receives our full attention and expert craftsmanship before it leaves our
Nuenen workspace.
Our Process: How a Piece Comes to Life
We translate the quiet
lines of everyday life into thread. Every piece in our collection—like The
Overthinker or The Observer—is a "quiet statement" designed to be gender-neutral and timeless.
- Sketch: We begin with loose drawings inspired by small, ordinary moments.
- Translate to Thread: We test colors and scale until the drawing feels alive in textile form.
- Stitch with Care: Every piece is embroidered one by one, ensuring it is made to last.
